I have network problems, which ports are required for Gear Up?

If you experinece network problems and get disconnected a lot or see many red monitors in the lobby it might be good to check that your firewall or router is not blocking the Steam P2P Networking. Please check the following ports:

  • UDP 3478 (Outbound)
  • UDP 4379 (Outbound)
  • UDP 4380 (Outbound)

You can read more about Required Ports for Steam here.

Will Gear Up be Free-2-Play?

Not 100% decided yet, the current plan is to release two versions of the game. A free demo and a premium upgrade. They will be compatible and the only difference will be that the premium version has more features.
At the moment there are no plans for microtransactions.

What are the minimum specifications?

Alpha minimum specifications:

  • OS: Windows Vista SP2, Windows 7 or Windows 8
  • Processor: Core 2 Duo 2.4 GHz or Althon X2 2.7 GHz
  • RAM: 2GB
  • Graphic card: DirectX 10 or 11 compatible Nvidia or AMD ATI card, ATI Radeon 3870 or higher, Nvidia GeForce 8800 GT or higher.
  • Graphics card memory: 512 MB
  • Sound card: Any supported by the OS
  • Hard drive: 1 GB

The game will only run on Windows Vista SP2 and Windows 7. The reason is that we found that DirectX 11 run ~20% faster than DirectX 9 on the same hardware and there are a lot less incompatibilities with DX11. We might support Windows XP later but no decision have been taken yet.

When will Gear Up be released?

When we think it is finished.

When will the editor be released?

Most likely after the game is released.

Will Gear Up be available on PS3, iPhone, Android, etc?

Our engine is running on iOS so we are thinking of releasing a free app where you can build vehicles, browse stats etc.
Mac and Linux ports are planned (native ports) our last game was ported to Mac and we have full OpenGL support in the engine. It is possible that we port the game to consoles if the game is a success.

Is your game built with game engine X or Y?

Neither. The game is built in our in-house game engine Traktor.
